What breed of pigs do you raise?

The heritage breed pig is a mix of Duroc, Old Berkshire and Kune Kune. We love using this breed as they do really well on pasture compared to conventional breed. Our pork produces a meat that has great flavor and consistent marbling. Pasture-raised pork contains higher levels of nutrients than commercially raised pork. Pasture-raised pork can contain up to twice the amount of vitamin E and three times the amount of Vitamin D contained in confined pigs. These vitamins are essential to heart, skin, hormonal, and brain health, as well as immune function and inflammation control. Pasture-raised pork also contains higher levels of selenium, which is necessary for thyroid health. Our pork is raised naturally and without drugs, antibiotics or hormones that guarantees a "clean" meat and no drug residue is passed on to the consumer

What do you feed the pigs?

We feed our pigs a blend of Non-gmo grains, which includes corn, beans, wheat and barley along with minerals to ensure the best diet possible. Along with the grain they are supplied with free choice grass and plenty of room run. We are convinced our animals love the space we provide them with.

What does Non-GMO mean?

As consumers, you have choices. It’s important to make sure you’re educated about GMOs and the options available. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms . Genetic engineering is a more precise method of modifying a plants genes. They can also use it to make changes to a plant’s existing traits so that plants yield more or can be sprayed with roundup or other herbicide. GMOs are found in many crops like corn, beans, and alfalfa. Even some fresh produce is now GMO and can tolerate herbicides.

We believe in consumer choice and if you’d like to avoid GMOs look for products that have been raised with NON-GMO grains and products. Non-GMO is exactly the opposite of GMOs. Non-GMOs are plants that do not have modified genes and perform naturally the way they were created to do so. Heirloom plants and natural hybrids are all part of the Non-GMO family. Non-GMO products have less chance of developing allergic reactions and provide more nutrients and antioxidants, which protects your health. As a consumer if you're unsure the food your purchasing is Non-GMO, you can always ask a manager. Although the best way to know how your food is grown is to buy farmer direct, that's where we come in. That;s why we like to say Know your Farmer, Know your Food.
